every year i sit down to make it happen
and it never does.
so i decided this year to just skip it.
2012 was a rough year for me...for us...in a lot of ways
i wrote about a lot of it here
but i skipped over a lot too. it was just too overwhelming to get through it
and write about it too.
there are lots of gaps in time in this blog.
that's why.
but then i started going through the archives
and reading through some old posts
rereading (more like devouring) your old comments
and it all reminded me that it really is a wonderful life
i'm blessed.
and thankful.
i've had a lot of time to ponder over the past few days
which is something that i really love having the time to do
especially at the beginning of something new...like a New Year.
i like thinking about where i've been and where i'm going
which things i'm thankful are over
and which things i'm looking so forward to.
i love the idea of starting fresh.
but there's value in looking back too.
seeing how far you've come
and remembering the truly great times you had
because they propel you forward
and prepare you for the future.
so here's a look back:
we went snowboarding in Colorado
went to Ojai for a Meadows wedding
celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary
and told our love story
welcomed our new addition, Waylon
talked about if you really knew me...
went to Vegas for the first time and met the King
went to Montana
traveled to Tennessee for another wedding
posted my version...Shit ER Patients Say
did the German-Texas thing and went to Oktoberfest
hit up Austin City Limits
went to Georgia to watch my baby brother get married
took family Christmas photos
spent a lot of time in this hospital
and this one
despite it being a rocky road
i have to say that, for the most part, i really did enjoy the ride.
and while i know that these year-in-review posts are probably pretty annoying,
for me, it was a worthwhile exercise
because it reminded me that i have so much for which to be thankful
which is a good mentality to have, i think
especially when one is embarking upon a new year
Happy 2013!
